Alexa is a voice service that powers devices such as Amazon Echo and Lenovo Smart Assistant. It provides intuitive way for customers to interact with devices using voice. There has never been a better time to explore this emerging specialty in Interactive Media as technology is becoming an integral part of our lives. Let's dive in and learn how to build your first Alexa Skill! This workshop is designed to teach beginners how to develop an Alexa skill from ground up using the AWS lambda function, while maintaining a hands-off approach with regards to the speech to text conversion and vice versa. Attendees will get a starter code template (in git) which can be enhanced further. Additionally, they will discover how to customize their Alexa skill with more functionalities. They will also learn how to integrate the skill with Alexa simulator. This allows engineers to track the voice commands executed.
We will be following the below steps to build the Alexa Skill:
Step1: Create a lambda function and execute it in the Amazon Lambda.
Step 2: Add an Alexa Skill
Step 3: Register the Lambda Function to the Alexa Skill Kit
Step 4: Training the Alexa Skill
Step 5: Testing

Note: To be able to participate in the workshop, attendees must have an Amazon Developer account, AWS account (Minimum free tier) and laptop.
