Current test coverage measures can’t guarantee bugs will be caught in the system it “covers”. In fact tests may never be run at all and still qualify as coverage. We can do better! Environment and Risk Aware coverage is a way to measure test efficacy that’s responsive and accountable, while acknowledging unknown risk. Extending Behavior Driven Design principals, ERA offers a test coverage metric that reacts to information (bugs or new use cases) and invalidates inadequate tests. By acknowledging unknown risk, and evolving our tests with responsive validation, complete useful test coverage is achievable. ERA unifies all system testing, including manual QA or UAT, no code required.
